VICE President Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has strongly emphasized the critical need for ministers and deputy ministers to fully grasp their responsibilities in guiding the public service system to attain Vision 2050 goals.

These include long-term targets set in the National Development Vision 2050 and the immediate goals outlined in the 2025 CCM Election Manifesto, he said, explaining the theme of the seminar, the role and responsibility of ministers in public service and the achievement of the two sets of goals.

The seminar was convened to build the capacity of new and serving ministers and deputy ministers, to enable them to execute their duties with greater efficiency, accountability and strict adherence to principles of good governance, he stated.

These leaders must be role models in the execution of development projects as they are tasked with ensuring that public resources are utilized effectively for optimal value, and always prioritize the broad interests of the citizens, he asserted.

The focus of the National Development Vision 2050 is to build a competitive, inclusive and sustainable economy, he said, noting that each ministry bears a fundamental responsibility in developing robust strategies that will directly contribute to achieving these overarching national goals.

Cabinet minister have to work in close collaboration and cooperation across the various ministries and public agencies, as this unity is vital to prevent conflicts, synchronize efforts and ensure that development initiatives progress concurrently and effectively across all sectors, he stated.

The seminar is expected to provide comprehensive guidance on best practices for managing human resources, finances and technology, as strategic knowledge transfer for ensuring that goals of accelerating economic growth and improving the quality of life for the people are realized, he said.

The emphasis on capacity building for the cabinet signifies the government's recognition that successful policy implementation relies on the competence and unified direction of top executives, as they steer the nation toward the ambitious Vision 2050 targets, analysts noted.
