COAST Regional Commissioner Abubakar Kunenge, has expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in championing the clean cooking energy campaign across the region. The initiative aims to uplift diverse social groups, notably educational institutions and food vendors.

During a regional advisory committee here over the weekend, RC Kunenge commended stakeholders dealing with clean energy  for playing an instrumental role in advancing the important campaign.

He urged municipal directors to actively collaborate with the stakeholders to ensure that both institutions and restaurants adhere to clean energy standards within the designated timelines.

Highlighting the impactful contributions of Taifa Gas, RC Kunenge detailed energy companies like Taifa Gas for their commitments towards empowering schools and food vendors to transition to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) through its notable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

"Taifa Gas has proven to be a reliable partner on this journey, much like other stakeholders. Schools such as Ruvu Girls and Bibi Titi Girls have reaped significant benefits from their efforts. For instance, Ruvu Girls Secondary has received free LPG infrastructure and tanks," RC Kunenge noted, emphasizing the forthcoming inauguration of Bibi Titi Girls Secondary School by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

RC Kunenge also remarked on the transformative impact witnessed among food vendors in the region, many of whom have now adopted gas cylinders (LPG) provided by Taifa Gas. "These changes have greatly benefited our local food vendors by enabling them to utilize clean cooking gas, and we sincerely appreciate the initiative taken by Taifa Gas," he mentioned.

Angellah Bhoke,  Taifa Gas's Corporate Affairs Manager , highlighted that the achievements have been substantially fueled by the company's commitment to support the cooking energy campaign launched by President Samia in 2022.
"Through this initiative, Taifa Gas has spearheaded a series of programs aimed at realizing the President's vision, including the launch of our environmental conservation campaign centered on the use of clean energy, particularly in the Coast region," she elaborated.

Bhoke also pointed out that the campaign has effectively mobilized the municipality towards environmental conservation and raised awareness about clean cooking energy via LPG. This has resulted in significant measures, such as the prohibition of charcoal transportation into Dar es Salaam by motorbike and a reduction in forest harvesting permits issued by local authorities.

"The success of this campaign has empowered us to expand our initiatives into other regions, including Dar es Salaam and Morogoro, reinforcing our steadfast commitment to supporting President Samia's clean cooking agenda.
