DODOMA residents are today celebrating Samia Day across all districts of the region, with government officials highlighting the successful implementation of development projects valued at over 10trn/- in just four years under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership.
The celebrations, held under the theme “Samia Has Delivered,” aimed at spotlighting the transformative impact of the sixth phase government, particularly through the testimonies of citizens who have directly benefited from various projects. The event will also feature entertainment from local musicians and cultural dance groups.
Speaking yesterday during a press briefing Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, underscored the importance of the occasion in raising awareness of the government’s accomplishments since President Samia took office in 2021.
“We commend the government for the massive investments made in Dodoma, which have brought about real change in the lives of our people,” she said.
Among the key infrastructure initiatives mentioned by Senyamule are the ongoing construction of the Dodoma ring road, expansion of electricity distribution systems, significant improvements in education and health services, and the establishment of the new Judiciary headquarters in the city.
In the energy sector, she said, the government has made strategic investments to increase the generation and distribution of electricity across the region, ensuring that industries, businesses, and households benefit from reliable power.
“Our aim is to ensure that every citizen enjoys the benefits of national development. Samia Day allows people to see and understand what their government has done for them. It’s more than a celebration—it’s a reflection of tangible progress,” said Senyamule.
On education, she said Dodoma has recorded noticeable improvements in school attendance and academic performance. This, she attributed largely to the provision of school meals, which she noted has increased student retention and improved focus in classrooms.
“Feeding programs are making a difference. Children are staying in school and learning better. But we’re also going further—forming special teams to monitor academic performance and help students move from poor to strong results,” she added.
Health services have also seen improvements, with new health centres, dispensaries, and maternal health services being established across the region. The developments are part of broader government efforts to bring essential services closer to communities and reduce inequalities in access.
Senyamule urged Dodoma residents from all districts to turn out in large numbers for today’s events to celebrate the progress made and appreciate the leadership that has driven it.
“This day is for all of us—to unite, to celebrate what we have achieved, and to be inspired for what lies ahead,” she said.
Samia Day comes at a time when Dodoma, the national capital, continues to attract major government and private investments, accelerating its growth as a model for balanced regional development in Tanzania.
