CCM youth wing (UVCCM) has launched a national campaign dubbed Kijani Fact Scan aimed at fighting the spread of misinformation and promoting patriotism as the nation approaches October 2025 General Election.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Dodoma yesterday, UVCCM Secretary for Mobilization and Youth Affairs of the National Executive Committee, Jessica Mshama, conveyed the message on behalf of the national chairperson, Mohammed Kawaida, highlighting the growing threat of disinformation and political propaganda.

The campaign, described as a patriotic operation, seeks to respond to what UVCCM says is an increase in false information targeting government efforts, CCM leaders and national institutions.

According to UVCCM official, some of the misinformation is being deliberately spread by certain activists, politicians and external actors with the intent to mislead the public, create political unrest and damage the country’s image both domestically and internationally.

“Through Kijani Fact Scan we shall respond to this challenge by educating the public on how to identify and counter false narratives. It will provide accurate information, fact-based rebuttals and raise awareness about the consequences of fake news on national unity,” she said.

The campaign will also involve young people at all levels, urging them to play an active role in safeguarding Tanzania from the dangers of misinformation. UVCCM emphasized that this effort is not only about defending the ruling party but about protecting national peace and cohesion.

The youth wing said it was tired of seeing government efforts being undermined and lies gaining traction as though they were truths. It called upon all patriotic Tanzanians to reject divisive propaganda and embrace the values of integrity and national service.

UVCCM also introduced another initiative, Kijani First Time Voters, which aims to encourage youth who have reached voting age to register and participate in the upcoming elections.

The campaign will kick off with a peaceful patriotic walk on 24th May in Dodoma, starting at the CCM national headquarters.

The event is expected to draw crowds of young participants dressed in green to symbolize patriotism and hope. UVCCM National Chairperson Mohammed Ali Kawaida is expected to officiate the event.

The walk is intended to promote civic engagement, national unity and officially welcome delegates who will attend the CCM Special National Congress scheduled for 29th and 30th May, 2025 in Dodoma.
