YOUNG Africans (Yanga) defender Dickson Job may be set to extend his stay at the club, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

While no formal agreement has been reached yet, negotiations between the club and the player have reportedly begun, raising hope that the Tanzanian centre-back could commit to a new deal.

Job, who has been a key figure in the Young Africans’ defensive lineup, played what could be his final match of the season on June 29, 2025, when Young Africans defeated Singida Black Stars 2-0 in the final of the Federation Cup.

That game marked the end of the club’s campaign and shifted management’s focus toward resolving outstanding player contract issues, including Job's.

Talks had previously been postponed due to a congested schedule that included two high-stakes matches - the Dar es Salaam Derby on June 25, which Young Africans won 2-0 against Simba SC, and the Federation Cup final four days later. With both critical fixtures now behind them, Young Africans’ leadership is expected to prioritize player renewals, beginning with Job.

Job acknowledged his contract situation, suggesting that he is open to staying if the terms are right.

"Let’s wait and see because my contract is ending. Once everything is clear, people will know. Everything is possible when there’s good communication and understanding," he was reportedly saying

The 24-year-old defender, known for his composure, strength, and ball-playing ability, has become one of Young Africans’ most dependable players. His future remains a matter of interest for both the club’s fans and football analysts in Tanzania, as he is seen as a key part of the team’s defensive stability.

While talks for Job's future are still ongoing, Young Africans have officially parted ways with Zambian striker Kennedy Musonda following the expiration of his contract.

Musonda leaves the Jangwani Street-based side after two and a half productive seasons, during which he played a crucial role in the club’s domestic and continental success.

His tenure with Young Africans saw him collect an impressive haul of silverware and personal achievements:

3 Premier League Titles, 3 FA Cups, 2 Community Shields, CAF Confederation Cup Runner-Up Medal (2022/23), 34 Goals and 13 Assists

Musonda was a consistent presence in Young Africans’ attack, known for his sharp movement, physical presence, and ability to score in big games. His contributions were pivotal in establishing Young Africans’ dominance in Tanzanian football over the last three seasons.

The club’s supporters will fondly remember his goals, especially in derbies and knockout matches.

Despite his departure, Musonda leaves a lasting legacy and is expected to attract offers from clubs across Africa and beyond. His exit signals a new chapter for both the player and Young Africans, who will be looking to reinforce their attacking line in the upcoming transfer window.

In addition to Musonda’s exit, Congolese winger Jonathan Ikangalombo Kapela has also left the club. The winger, who joined Young Africans six months ago, struggled to make an impact during his brief spell in Tanzania.

After limited game time and underwhelming performances, the club opted not to extend his stay. Young Africans officially bid farewell to Ikangalombo and wished him success in his future endeavors.

"It’s time for him to seek new challenges elsewhere," a source close to the club noted.

The departure of both Musonda and Ikangalombo signals a transition period for the Jangwani Street giants as they prepare for the 2025/26 season. With continental ambitions still high, Young Africans are expected to make strategic moves in the transfer market to maintain their competitive edge.
