IN order to ensure that Tanzanians have access to a variety of accurate agricultural information, the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) in collaboration with industry stakeholders has launched a special platform that will be used to provide education on important agricultural issues.
Speaking today in Dar es Salaam region, during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding with the platform known as (Mchongo TV), TADB Director Frank Nyabundege has said that the platform will be providing various information on opportunities in agriculture, including markets and places where they can obtain capital under government guarantees.
"You will hear all this through Mchongo TV, right now President Samia Suluhu Hassan is using the term agriculture as a business, and she has given many loans through Build Better Tomorrow (BTT) but many youths and women were unaware because they lack information.
"Also, many youths do not know that the government has provided fishing capital, the president asks if the money I provided has run out, and we say why not because many young men do not know about the information on the loans, but for now this platform will help us access that information on time and be an opportunity for young people," said Nyabundege.
However, he explained that the bank aims to strengthen agricultural production for smallholder farmers, enable them to farm commercially and increase the value of their produce, facilitate access to markets, and ensure that agriculture contributes more to the growth of national income.
The Executive Director of the Forum, Juhayna Kusaga, has said that the signed agreement is a catalyst for development in the agricultural sector where Tanzanians can expect to gain knowledge through various programs that will be broadcast on television, especially in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and marketing.
"Tanzanians, it is time for us to wake up and also remember the Agribusiness so that we can get rid of it and bring development to the country through the opportunities and agricultural loans provided by TADB while pursuing various education related to agricultural issues through this platform," said Juhayna.
