Tanzanian national, Augustino Mbogella , has been appointed as a member of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) Oversight Council, making him the sole representative from the African continent.
This three-year appointment recognizes Mbogella's extensive expertise and dedication to the internal audit profession within Tanzania, Africa, and globally. The IPPF Oversight Council holds a critical role in the internal audit profession by providing independent oversight and ensuring the integrity and quality of the IPPF.
The IPPF serves as the global standard for internal auditing, assisting internal auditors worldwide in delivering value-added services to their respective organizations.
Augustino is the first Tanzanian to join a distinguished group of eight professionals forming the IPPF Oversight Council. This group comprises representatives from prominent global organizations such as the World Bank, the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the National Association of Directors (NAD), the Global Network of Directors (GNDI), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). This diverse assembly is committed to upholding the highest standards of internal auditing worldwide.
Since adopting the IPPF in 2011, Tanzania has consistently upheld it as the benchmark for the profession, ensuring that internal auditors in the country adhere to globally recognized standards.
Mbogella possesses a distinguished record of service in the internal audit profession. He is a former President of IIA Tanzania and has served as a Vice-President of the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA). His contributions extend to the global stage, having served as a Board member of the Global Board of the IIA. Furthermore, he has served on two committees of the IIA: the International Internal Audit Standards Board and the Professional Certification Board. He has also trained numerous boards and internal auditors, highlighting his commitment to advancing governance best practices and the profession of internal auditing.
He is the founder and Managing Director of GRC Solutions and serves on several boards in both the public and private sectors.

Richard Magongo, Past President of IIA Tanzania, described the appointment as truly great news for the IIA Tanzania fraternity and the nation at large, noting its significance at a pivotal moment as the new Global Internal Audit Standards become effective.
Emmanuel Johannes, IIA Global Board Member and Past AFIIA Chairman, commented that Mbogella's appointment demonstrates the commitment and recognition of the work that IIA Tanzania is doing at the global level.
IIA Tanzania has served as the headquarters of AFIIA and a leading source of talent for the Internal Audit Profession. The current President, Dr. Zelia Njeza, is also serving on the Global Institute Relations Committee.
