TFS introduces ultra-modern semi- luxury tents to attract more visitors

THE Tanzania Forest Services (TFS) has launched at least 40 modern semi- luxury tents to help maximise accommodations services to tourists at its forests reserves across the country.

The state- of- the- art wigwams will be distributed to the TFS diverse reserves, including Pugu–Kazimzumbwi (10), Vikindu (4), Rau (5), Kondoa Rock Arts (2), North Kilimanjaro–Rongai (5), West Kilimanjaro (10) and Magamba Park will receive 4 tents.

Tourism officer from TFS headquarters, Salome Letore Kivuyo, said the development focuses to improve accommodation services within TFS forests reserves by allowing tourists to stay for more days.

"The tents will be distributed to the touristic forests reserves that normally attracts huge number of tourists, and we're remaining optimistic this initiative will help to spur income from the tourism sector," Kivuyo observed.

She noted, the new equipped tents comprise comfortable beds, mattresses and other key facilities to allow the visitors to enjoy their nights under the canopies.

"The target is to ensure the tourists enjoy the best experience while visiting at our eye- catching forests reserves" she insisted.

Before the tents to be distributed to the parks in question, Kivuyo informed that the TFS wardens will be trained on how professional to handle the new facilities, including how to open and drive them, as well as taking good care of the tents.

According to her, the tents will also play key role in ensuring for security of the visitors.

Speaking for his part, Kondoa Irangi rock painting site manager, Zuberi Mabie expressed that the timely investment will help to attract more visitors at the TFS forests reserves, the development which will automatically boost the economy of the communities surrounding the areas.

"Experience proves that good services always sensitising the tourists to stay for long at the forest reserves, and thus, enabling the government to realise more revenues," 

"We welcome families and various groups within local communities to enjoy the heritage of their country in a safe and calm environment," he appealed.

He challenged tourism companies operating in the country to continue selling key tourism packages, especially camping tourism, since the government has continued to improve key infrastructure for tourists, especially accommodation, has been improved to international standards, acceptable for local and foreign tourists," he said.

According to Dos Santos Silayo, the TFS  Conservation Commissioner, the state- owned Agency will continue implementing the sustainable project with an eye to improve key services, including hiking trails, hiking areas and cycling infrastructure, to ensure tourists get a unique experience of nature and high quality enjoyment.
