FORMER Chief Secretary and ex-CCM Secretary General, Dr Bashiru Ally has broken his four-year silence, declaring that the ruling party’s presidential candidate stands out as the best national leader Tanzania has ever had.
Dr Bashiru, who has remained away from the political spotlight since leaving government service, made the remarks at a public rally attended by Members of Parliament, parliamentary aspirants, and party supporters. His public endorsement is being seen as a powerful statement ahead of the general elections.
“For many years I have chosen silence, but today I must speak plainly,” Dr Bashiru said. “Tanzania is fortunate to have a presidential candidate who not only embodies the values of our founding fathers but also demonstrates vision, discipline, and unmatched commitment to the people. In my view, Dr Samia is the best national leader the country has ever had.”
He commended President Samia’s achievements in steering the economy, promoting national unity, and prioritising development projects such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, and water supply.
Dr Bashiru stressed that the efforts have touched the lives of millions of citizens, setting a new benchmark for leadership in Tanzania.
Dr Bashiru urged Tanzanians to rally behind President Samia, emphasising that continuity and stability under her leadership will safeguard and expand the country’s development gains. “Our country needs leadership that is visionary, consistent, and tested. I firmly believe we have such a leader before us,” he said.
Jesca Kishoa, Iramba East parliamentary aspirant emphasised that the government’s development agenda under President Samia has already changed lives in rural and urban areas alike.
She pointed to flagship initiatives, including the Standard Gauge Railway, energy expansion, irrigation schemes and improved social services, as proof of her determination to transform the nation.
“We have witnessed a leader who listens, a leader who acts, and a leader who unites the nation. This is why we must all stand firmly behind her,” he said.
Elibariki Kingu called on citizens to turn out in large numbers during the elections to secure continuity of progress. He also urged party members to remain united, stressing that victory for CCM will guarantee the country stability and accelerated growth.
