Over the past five years, the ruling party CCM has highlighted significant achievements in the Itilima Constituency, in Simiyu Region.
The accomplishments span across various development sectors, reflecting the party’s commitment to improving local infrastructure and public services.
Among the major developments are the construction of a district hospital, four health centres, several dispensaries, and an expansion in the number of primary schools — rising from 30 to 38, bringing the total to 107.
Speaking at a public rally held at the Lugangabilili Bus Stand Grounds, CCM’s Vice Presidential candidate, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, noted that the academic pass rate in the constituency had increased dramatically over the past five years, from 50percebt to 97percent.
He further reported that water projects worth over 40bn/- have been implemented, resulting in 70percent of residents now having access to clean and safe drinking water.
Electricity access has also improved significantly, with the number of electrified villages growing from 45 to 102.
During the same event, Itilima MP Njalu Silanga said:
“We previously faced serious challenges in accessing services due to poor infrastructure. Although hospital services were available, many people struggled to reach them. Today, the number of bridges has increased from 12 to 52. Our road network has also expanded, growing from 500 kilometres to 857 kilometres.”
Silanga also highlighted the political impact of development in the area:
“Nineteen out of 22 councillors were elected unopposed. This is a direct result of the hard work done under the leadership of President Samia. Despite the constituency’s history of supporting opposition parties, the visible progress has won the trust of the people.”
He added that despite being elected unopposed, the local leadership continues to campaign actively to secure a strong and decisive mandate for President Samia in upcoming elections.
