FORMER CCM Secretary General, Dr Bashiru Ally has outlined key leadership qualities that, he says, make the CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan the best leader for Tanzania and deserving of another term in office.
Speaking during the grand closure of the CCM nationwide campaign in Mwanza today, Dr Bashiru praised Samia for her integrity, resilience, and deep understanding of the people she leads.
“Samia is a leader who understands and genuinely cares about the challenges facing Tanzanians. She recognises the people’s struggles and has worked tirelessly to address them,” he said.
He noted that under her leadership, Tanzania has maintained food security and achieved remarkable progress in the health sector through strategic investments that have reduced maternal and child mortality rates.
Dr Bashiru further described Samia as an innovative and hardworking leader who has shown exceptional commitment throughout the campaign period.
“Since the campaign began, she has not rested a single day, always engaging with citizens across the country. Her entire team has followed her example of dedication,” he remarked.
He highlighted her creative management of resources, including the prudent use of funds allocated to mitigate the impacts of Covid-19, which were invested to strengthen various key sectors of the economy.
Dr Bashiru also commended Samia’s calmness and composure in the face of criticism.
“She has endured many unfair attacks but has remained patient and composed, urging other leaders and citizens not to be provoked,” he said.
He explained that this quality has enabled her to promote peace, stability, and unity, all of which are essential for national development.
Dr Bashiru said during her tenure, Samia has prioritised building a strong economy by creating a stable environment for investors and supporting the growth of local businesses.
He added that she has demonstrated sound management of the country’s natural and public resources, ensuring that development benefits reach all citizens.
Describing her personal character, Dr Bashiru said Samia is “cheerful, approachable, and full of life”, traits that have made her a unifying figure both nationally and internationally.
He also credited her for revitalising the sports and cultural sectors, noting that Tanzania’s recognition on the continental and global stage has grown significantly during her tenure.
“She has earned multiple awards nationally and internationally for her outstanding leadership,” Dr Bashiru added, urging Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers to vote and preserve the country’s peace.
Meanwhile, Ezekia Wenje, a former opposition cadre, echoed the call for citizens to exercise their democratic right responsibly.
“On voting day, let us put aside political differences and cast our ballots wisely,” he said. “The only right way to solve national challenges is through legal and constitutional means, not through the streets.”
Both leaders called for peaceful participation in today’s election, stressing that unity and stability are the foundation of Tanzania’s continued development.
