POLITICAL parties confirmed to participate in the upcoming General Election scheduled for October 29 this year have been urged to nominate qualified candidates to avoid unnecessary objections.

Anamary Joseph, the Election Supervisor for Mbeya Urban and Uyole constituencies, made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of 18 political parties set to take part in the election.

The meeting aimed at reviewing the schedule and various election guidelines.

She said each party had been provided with election guidelines, including the qualifications required for candidates seeking various positions. She urged party leaders to follow those guidelines to ensure the election is conducted peacefully.

She emphasized that political parties are key stakeholders in the electoral process, noting that according to the Constitution, every candidate must come from a fully registered political party.

“Ensure you comply with all outlined procedures. In case of grievances, follow the legal channels to avoid chaos that could jeopardize the election,” said Anamary.

She also urged party leaders to properly coordinate their campaign schedules to prevent clashes that could lead to unrest.

Meanwhile, the Constituency Election Officer, Gregory Emmanuel, advised party leaders to seek clarification from election supervisors whenever they encounter issues needing further explanation.

He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission has established a system where each party will be represented by one agent at polling stations, and thus urged parties to prepare those agents accordingly.
