MINISTER for Education, Science and Technology Prof Adolf Mkenda has called on civil society organizations to sensitize women on their rights ahead of the October General Election.
Speaking in Dodoma yesterday during general assembly of Mtetezi wa Mama (Defender of Women), Prof. Mkenda emphasized the importance of women coming out in large numbers not only as voters but also as candidates.
Prof. Mkenda highlighted the government’s substantial investment in education, noting a significant scale-up in funding and infrastructure development. He cited the expansion of technical and vocational education through the planned construction of 64 new colleges across Tanzania Mainland.
“The education sector has seen a major transformation. The investment substantial,” he said.
The minister also encouraged the group to continue promoting unity and social cohesion, describing its members as role models in their communities.
“Tanzania was built on the foundation of unity and solidarity. I applaud your efforts and pledge my support. Our job as leaders is to nurture and uplift; I will personally explore how best we can support your cause,” he added.
National Chairperson of Mtetezi wa Mama, Neema Karume, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to empowering women economically and politically while also engaging young people in national development dialogues.
