Residents of Dar es Salaam are being actively sensitized on electric cooking solutions as part of the ongoing National eCooking Awareness Campaign, officially launched on June 13, 2025.
The campaign is coordinated by the Ministry of Energy in partnership with the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme and UK International Development. Its main goal is to encourage behavioral change, helping more households across Tanzania transition away from firewood and charcoal, which pose health and environmental risks.
To strengthen the campaign’s implementation, development partners recently donated two vehicles to the Ministry of Energy. These vehicles will support outreach and monitoring activities across various regions of the country.
The eCooking campaign aims to deliver the message of adopting clean, safe, and environmentally friendly energy for daily cooking needs to Tanzanians nationwide.
