SCHNEIDER Electric a leader in digital transformation and energy management, Schneider Electric has expressed commitment to bridging Tanzania’s energy access gap through innovative and sustainable solutions.
The company has established a team and office in Dar-es-Salaam, alongside a state-of-the-art fabrication yard for assembling containerized substation solutions, aimed at supporting the region’s infrastructure and energy needs.
During a visit to the newly commissioned yard, Executive Vice President for International Operations, Manish Pant, emphasized Schneider Electric’s commitment to Tanzania’s energy sector.
“Africa is at a pivotal moment in the global energy transition, and Schneider Electric is committed to accelerating access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy across the continent. In Tanzania, we invest in both technology and people, empowering partners to drive sustainable impact,” he said.
The fabrication yard assembles containerized substations, integrating components such as the low-voltage PRISMA distribution switchboard, solar chargers, and inverters, making them ideal for various industries in the region.
With Tanzania’s electricity access at approximately 45.8percent, Schneider Electric aims to address the gap, especially with rural communities at just 23percemt electrification.
To support local demand, Schneider Electric collaborates with partners to develop and implement containerized substations. “We ensure our partners are equipped with the skills and resources to provide solutions that meet international standards,” said Josiah Habwe, General Manager for Business Projects and Services in Tanzania.
“This partnership accelerates the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and supports the country's infrastructure and industrial growth.”
The regional office is located on 368 Msasani Road, Oyster Bay, Dar-es-Salaam.
