THE Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) has signed a landmark three-year agreement with Aspire Educational Technologies from the United Arab Emirates to roll out cutting-edge digital learning content for secondary schools nationwide.
In a major push to modernise the country’s education system, the partnership aims to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and curriculum-aligned digital content to equip students with essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, critical thinking, and creativity.
Speaking during the signing ceremony held in Dar es Salaam yesterday, TIE director general Dr Aneth Komba described the agreement as timely, aligning with the government’s on-going implementation of a revised national curriculum that prioritises ICT integration from the early grades.
“This partnership with Aspire Educational Technologies is a ground-breaking move to bring high-quality, curriculum-aligned digital content to secondary schools across Tanzania, ensuring our students gain the digital skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the 21st century,” she said.
She added: “Aspire will be responsible for developing the digital content, offering technical expertise, managing implementation, and covering associated costs. TIE will ensure all materials meet national standards through a structured approval process.”
Dr Komba thanked Aspire for their commitment and expressed optimism about the partnership’s long-term impact on the education sector.
Dr Rahul D’Mello, Aspire Educational Technology CEO said the institution is committed to improving educational outcomes by providing accessible, inclusive, and tailored resources for students, while collaborating with governmental bodies and educational institutions to drive broader digitization efforts within the education sector.
“We are pleased to partner with the Tanzania Institute of Education to bring innovative digital learning tools to Tanzanian students. This collaboration will not only support the growth of digital education in Tanzania but also contribute to improving the quality of secondary education through technology-driven solutions,” he said.
He added: “The Tanzania Institute of Education’s commitment to this initiative is crucial for its success. TIE will play a significant role in the oversight of the content development process, ensuring that the digital materials produced by Aspire are both relevant and aligned with Tanzania’s educational objectives.
According to him, TIE’s institutional support will help Aspire navigate government regulations and obtain the required approvals for the project.
During the first phase of the project spanning 12 months, Aspire will be delivering a total of 16 digital courses — 12 academic and 4 vocational. These will include around 1000 instructional videos spanning over 150 hours of content, over 4000 practice question bank and 1500 study materials such as lesson summaries, quizzes and homework sheets.
Aspire will be training and selecting a team of 20-25 Tanzanian teachers and subject matter experts who will be part of a content development project.
This partnership is a key milestone in advancing the digitalization of education, and will play an essential role in improving access to inclusive, curriculum-aligned learning resources for Tanzanian students.
