MOHAMED Omary and Kashif Adnan exhibited stellar batting showing to propel Pak Stars A to a comprehensive 174-run defeat of Patel Brotherhood A in the 2024 Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) DC Super League tie in Dar es Salaam recently.

Pak Stars A raced to an imposing 294/9 in the allotted 50 overs after garnering the opportunity to start batting at the Leaders Club venue.

It was chiefly thanks to youthful Omary and seasoned skipper Adnan's no-nonsense approach at the crease.

The batting squad moved to 35-2 after eight overs, with openers Nisar Ahmed and Ivan Ismail facing dismissal with 16 runs and 15 runs respectively.

Omary, coming in at number three, laid his hands on the bat and went on to garner 78 runs and ended up as the player boasting the most noticeable showing when his side took the crease.

The batting squad reached 201-5 when Omary made his way back after 38 overs, with the cricketer nailing 12 boundaries during his turn at the crease.

Adnan had Pak Stars A adding more runs, blasting 58 runs and pushing the team to 235-7 once he exited the crease in the 42nd over.

There were further two-digit contributions by Ayaz Mustafa, who notched 29 runs, and Mohamed Ali, who garnered 23 runs, as their squad punished Patel Brotherhood A.

Zamoyoni Ramadhan posted 18 runs and experienced cricketer Zafar Khan (15 runs) and Hassan Raza (19 runs) continued to offer the batting squad dominance.

Although budding pacer Khalid Amiri had a great bowling turn after hauling 5-56, Patel Brotherhood A hardly prevented Pak Stars A from ending the innings with a bigger figure.

Acrey Pascal garnered two wickets, leaking 48 runs, as Patel Brotherhood A's bowling unit vainly battled to get the better of Pak Stars A.

Patel Brotherhood A's bid to successfully chase Pak Stars A's total could hardly be fulfilled after managing 120/10 in 42.2 overs.

Top-order batsmen Abubakar Juma and Pascal were the performers with the noticeable game in an otherwise below-par batting showing by Patel Brotherhood A.

Juma ended up with the most runs in the fruitless chase, having notched 30 runs, and opener Pascal garnered 23 runs.

The batting collapse, which came about after experienced batsman Vishal Patel's dismissal, proved costly to Patel Brotherhood A. 

Patel, Patel Brotherhood A's captain, could so far score 13 runs in his brief stint.

Twenty-seven extras leaked by Pak Stars A's bowlers somewhat helped Patel Brotherhood A end up with an encouraging total.

The extras were made up of one leg bye, one no ball, and 25 wides.

Ali, who ended up with 3-20, Khan, who took 2-20, and Muhammad Mudasser, who garnered 2-16, led Pak Stars A's successful bid to weaken Patel Brotherhood A's resolve.

The league, a TCA officer stated, features the top cricket teams in Tanzania, put into two groups.

Group A teams are Aga Khan SC, Delaware Upanga SC- A, Patel Brotherhood A, Dar Indian Titans, and Pak Stars A.

Group B clubs are: Caravans, Strikers, Aces A, Gymkhana, and Lions A.

The showdown began on January 4, 2025, marking an exciting start to Tanzania’s premier cricket competition.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by TCA Chairman, Balakrishna Sreekumar, who highlighted the league’s significance in elevating the standard of cricket in Tanzania.

Sreekumar stated: "This league is not just about competition... it's about fostering talent, building camaraderie, and taking Tanzanian cricket to new heights."

The 2024 TCA DC Super League is off to a thrilling start, promising top-tier cricket action in the weeks to come.
