OVER 30 Tanzanian companies providing various services in the tourism sector have engaged in business talks with tourism service providers and buyers from the Netherlands.
Caroline Chipeta, Tanzania's ambassador to the Netherlands, said at an online briefing yesterday that the meeting was intended to promote Tanzania’s tourist attractions.
The business meeting focusing on the tourism sector worked on the background datum that 37,614 tourists from the Netherlands visited the country last year, she said, noting that she accompanied the delegation promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions.
This delegation brings together sellers and buyers of tourism services, she said, affirming that in addition to business talks, the mission highlighted the breadth of Tanzania’s tourist attractions.
The delegation includes over 30 local companies offering various tourism services, she stated, noting that the visit reflects efforts made by the government through the embassy, working with stakeholders in both countries to promote the country.
The increase in tourist numbers is also driven by six weekly direct flights between the Netherlands and Tanzania, she said, expressing confidence that ongoing promotional efforts, particularly in the Netherlands, will further increase the number of tourists visiting Tanzania.
"In light of these developments, we call on other stakeholders to invest in the tourism sector to support the government's efforts to grow tourism and increase the number of visitors to Tanzania," she added.
