THE Tanzania People's Defence Forces (TPDF) received a major boost after NMB Bank donated sports kits worth 19m/- to support the Mashujaa Under-20 and Mashujaa Queens teams.

The donation includes four sets of jerseys, eight pairs of goalkeeper gloves, 50 tracksuits, 40 travel outfits, training bibs, and 50 official T-shirts, among other items.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at the bank’s head office in Dar es Salaam yesterday, NMB Bank’s Senior Manager for Personal Lending, Ally Ngingite, said the sponsorship aligns with the bank’s sports development strategy, aimed at nurturing talent and supporting team participation in top-tier competitions.

“We’ve been impressed by the teams’ recent performances, which is why we’re supporting them to maintain consistency and achieve even greater success,” he said.

Ngingite emphasized the bank’s long-standing relationship with TPDF, noting their shared vision of promoting sports development.

“These kits will fuel better performance and raise the TPDF flag even higher in upcoming tournaments,” he said.

He urged both teams to remain resilient and focused, highlighting the importance of a winning mindset. Ngingite also cited NMB’s broader sports involvement, including its seven-year sponsorship of the CDF Golf Tournament held at Lugalo Golf Club.

“Sports is no longer just recreational - it’s a source of livelihood. That’s why we remain committed to partnering with key players across the sports ecosystem,” he added.

Receiving the kits on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces General Jacob Mkunda, TPDF Director of Physical Training, Sports and Culture Col. David Luoga thanked the bank for its timely support, saying it would significantly aid the teams’ preparation for upcoming tournaments, including the CDF Cup set for June.

“This donation will boost morale and performance. We’re grateful for NMB’s continued support,” Col. Luoga said.
