The Tanzania People's Defence Forces (TPDF) secured a massive shot in the arm after receiving 19m/- sports kits from NMB Bank which will go towards enhancement of sporting activities within the Mashujaa Under 20 (U-20) and Mashujaa Queens teams.
The donated items include four sets of new jerseys, eight sets of goalkeeper’s gloves, 50 track suits, 40 sets of travelling attires, jerseys training equipment (bips) and 50 official T-shirts among others.
Speaking during the handover ceremony held at the bank’s head office in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the NMB Bank Senior Manager Personal Lending Personal Banking Ally Ngingite said the bank’s sponsorship aligns with the bank’s sports development strategy and seeks to nurture talent and enable the recipient teams’ seamless participation in the local topflight leagues.
“We have been impressed by the good form exhibited by the two teams in recent months that is why we are donating these sports kits to ensure consistency and enable the recipient teams to perform even better,” he said.
Ngingite revealed that the sponsorship cements the long-term relationship between NMB Bank and TPDF as both entities have a shared vision of nurturing and developing sports.
“I believe the sports kits we are handing over today will be a catalyst for better performance of the two recipient teams and keep flying the TPDF flag even higher in all the tournaments where they will take part,” he said.
He added, “I believe with the sports kits we have handed over today, both teams will continue with their winning streak in all tournaments where they will participate,”
Ngingite during the event encouraged both Mashujaa Under 20 (U-20) and Mashujaa Queens teams to continue with their resilience and perseverance adding that a winning mentality is crucial for the success of their teams.
He added, “As you may be aware, NMB Bank has been at the forefront of sponsoring different sports activities. Notable among those is the flagship CDF Golf Tournament held at Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam that we have sponsored for seven years in a row now. The tournament is getting bigger and better as years go by thanks to our sponsorship,” he added.
He reiterated the bank’s commitment to continue working closely with various players in the sports industry including the Government adding that sports is no longer for refreshment of the body but a source of livelihood.
“In line with our sports strategy, we will continue to partner with various players across the country to boost sports development.” he added.
The TPDF Director of Physical Training, Sports and Culture Col. David Luoga who received the donated sports kits on behalf of the Tanzania Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen. Jacob Mkunda commended the bank for its generous support adding that the donated sport kits have come timely and will be crucial in facilitating the TPDF teams.
Col Luoga noted that the donated sports kits will be a major boost for the TPDF teams to make adequate preparations for the upcoming sports tournaments including the CDF Cup scheduled to commence in June this year.
“This sponsorship is a massive boost to our clubs, and it is my hope that the donated items won’t only boost the teams’ morale but team performance as a whole,” he said.
