TABORA United have officially parted ways with head coach Anicet Kiazayidi, with Zimbabwean tactician Genesis Mangombe set to take over the reins.
The club has not disclosed the specific reasons for Kiazayidi’s departure, but sources indicate that the decision was reached through mutual agreement.
The Congolese coach had recently returned to his home country for a refresher course before news of his contract termination surfaced.
A reliable insider at Tabora United confirmed that the management and Kiazayidi had amicably agreed to part ways.
“I cannot discuss the reasons behind the decision to let go of our previous coach, especially since he had played a key role in positioning the team well in the league so far. However, I can confirm that the decision was mutual,” said the source.
The insider further expressed confidence in Mangombe’s ability to lead the team forward.
“The coach we have brought in is also very talented, and we believe he will help us achieve our objectives for the season. Our ambition remains to finish in a strong position in the Premier League.”
When contacted, Kiazayidi also confirmed that the decision was mutual but refrained from disclosing further details regarding his exit.
For now, Tabora United’s chief executive officer, Charles Obiny, has assured fans that the club is following administrative procedures regarding the coaching change. He urged supporters to continue rallying behind the team.
“There are ongoing formalities regarding this transition. Once everything is finalized, we will provide further details. In the meantime, we call upon our fans and stakeholders to keep supporting the team as we focus on upcoming matches,” Obiny stated.
Kiazayidi had taken charge of Tabora United in November 2024, replacing Kenyan coach Francis Kimanzi, who was dismissed due to poor results in the ongoing Mainland Premier League season.
Under Kiazayidi’s leadership, the team showed significant improvement, climbing up the standings.
Despite his departure, Tabora United remain in a commendable position, currently occupying fifth place in the league table after 23 matches. The team has accumulated 37 points, having won 10 games, drawn seven, and lost six.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Mangombe (pictured) has already arrived in Tanzania and is expected to be unveiled as the new head coach once contractual procedures are finalized.
The Zimbabwean coach has agreed to take charge until the end of the season, with hopes of guiding the club to a strong finish.
There are also indications that Mangombe may bring in one of his trusted assistants to join his technical team at Tabora United.
With 11 league matches remaining, all eyes will be on Mangombe to see if he can maintain the team’s momentum and possibly push for a higher finish in the Mainland Premier League.
