TANZANIA national team head coach, Hemed ‘Morocco’ Suleiman, has expressed confidence in his squad's readiness ahead of their pivotal FIFA World Cup qualifier against Morocco in Oujda on March 26.

Following an intensive training camp at Mkwakwani Stadium, Taifa Stars were scheduled to travel to Morocco later yesterday for their final preparations before the high-stakes encounter.

With all players now in camp, coach Suleiman (pictured) remains optimistic about their chances, citing the squad’s passion and commitment during training sessions.

Despite Tanzania's 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the recent CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and their historical record of one win and five losses against the North African giants, Suleiman believes his team has learned valuable lessons that will aid their performance.

"So far, we have an amazing group of players who have worked intensively to prepare for this game. The team spirit is high, and I believe that will translate into a strong performance on match day," said Suleiman.

"We have reviewed our previous games to pinpoint areas for improvement and analyzed Morocco’s footage to identify weaknesses we can exploit. The players have shown great determination, and I think it's time for them to prove their quality on the pitch."

Tanzania currently sits third in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers with six points from three matches.

Morocco leads the group with a perfect nine points, while Niger, also on six points, holds second place due to a superior goal difference (+3 compared to Tanzania’s 0).

Zambia follows in fourth with three points, while Congo Brazzaville is suspended, and Eritrea withdrew from the competition.

A win against Morocco would significantly boost Tanzania’s chances of qualifying for the next round, keeping their World Cup dream alive.

Taifa Stars will also face Niger at home on September 8 and Zambia on October 6 in their final group-stage fixtures.

Facing a Moroccan squad packed with European-based talent, Taifa Stars will need to deliver a disciplined defensive performance while being clinical in attack.

Coach Suleiman is expected to emphasize defensive solidity and quick counterattacks to stand a chance against one of Africa’s strongest teams.

This match presents a true test of Tanzania’s resilience, and fans eagerly anticipate whether Taifa Stars can pull off a historic upset in Oujda.
