Airtel Tanzania announces fully restoration of internet services and bundle refund

Airtel Tanzania has announced restoration of internet services after services disruption occurred on 12 May 2024, a problem which caused unavailability of internet countrywide.

A Press Release issued today in Dar es Salaam, by Airtel Tanzania Public Relations Manager Jackson Mmbando has said that internet services have fully been restored and therefore customers can now continue using services as normal.

“Airtel Tanzania takes this opportunity to announce to our esteemed customers that internet services have now fully been restored after disruption occurred on Sunday May 12, 2024, from 11:00hrs due to failure of submarine optic fiber cables which caused unavailability of internet services country wide.

Mmbando added’ ‘Airtel Tanzania is refunding customers who were unable to use their bundles during that period and he promise to continue ensuring a reliable connectivity as usual.

The disruption had been caused by faults in multiple undersea cables, which are vital for connecting systems and companies that support internet and telecommunications infrastructure in the region. The outage affected countries in East Africa, leaving approximately 80 million users without internet.
