Hope Holdings, a local investment firm that hired over 450 Tanzanian employees in 2024, has announced a strategic partnership with Bolt Tanzania to digitize its carpet retail operations, Amal Carpets. According to today’s press conference, the joint venture is also a joint objective to ensure all households can afford a carpet for their families.
This significant addition to its “road to market” approach is an attempt to combat ensuing brand perceptions driven by third-party retailers who sell the carpets at uncontrollable mark-ups, according to the company. “We want to eliminate the notion in our consumers' minds that Amal Carpets are too expensive and not for the masses,” said Micky Decha, the marketing manager of Hope Holdings. “Pursuing a digital solution to reach our customers and make sales means that more Tanzanians can have access to quality basic products at lower, controlled prices” he added.
By integrating Bolt Business delivery solutions, Amal Carpets will now offer customers the ability to order carpets directly and receive them at their doorstep, eliminating traditional showroom bottlenecks, delivery delays, and middleman costs.
“This collaboration is about rethinking how Tanzanian businesses can digitize some of their operations to make our predominantly low-income societies capable of affording consumer goods,” said Milu Kipimo, Senior Country Manager for Bolt Business.
For Hope Holdings, which also owns popular brands such as LC Waikiki and Papparotti, this marks its first tech-enabled public-facing initiative. The company says this is just the beginning of wider digitisation plans across its distribution channels, aimed at ensuring fare pricing and unlocking more consumer value at scale.
