A New digital payment solution designed to streamline revenue collection for merchants nationwide has been launched in Dar es Salaam.
The platform allows merchants to receive payments directly into their bank accounts quickly and securely, enhancing cash flow and operational efficiency. It supports payments from both mobile wallets and bank accounts via the TANQR digital payments infrastructure, promoting broader transactability within the financial ecosystem.
Targeting businesses of all sizes—shops, supermarkets, petrol stations, restaurants, pharmacies, hardware stores, and service providers—the solution enables seamless, secure transactions from any mobile network or bank.
“This launch marks a significant step in promoting digital payment systems,” said Fredrick Max, Head of Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, during the launch event. “Our customers want simpler, safer, and more efficient payment collection—and this is our response.”
He added that the launch comes as the bank celebrates 30 years in Tanzania, underscoring its long-standing commitment to supporting business growth and national development.
All payments are settled directly into business accounts, improving cash flow and financial security. “This service is secure and simple. It streamlines sales, provides real-time business data, and enables business management on the go. It also builds a traceable financial history—key for accessing credit,” said Sharon Mujuni, Head of Transactional Banking, Business & Commercial Banking.
The bank also emphasized its continued commitment to offering financial education and tailored solutions to help clients grow their businesses and access financing.
“This is a great solution for us. With ‘Lipa Simpo na Stanbic’—an improved Lipa number service—payments go directly to the bank, making things easier for our customers and for us.”
