Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has officially launched the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) Business Facilitation Portal that provides investors with direct access to a wide range of information and investment procedures irrespective of their geographical location.

The PM launched this alongside other four reports on the improvement of Business Environment and Investment as well as Improvement and Investment Management Tools, in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

Prime Minister told the government institutions and authorities to expedite the reform of laws that will facilitate business operations to ensure that new regulations create a better environment for business and investment.

“This issue should go hand in hand with setting priorities for providing services quickly, efficiently, and in accordance with international standards. Authorities should have streamlined systems for communicating with investors and removing existing barriers,” he said.

The other reports launched included the National Guideline for the Development and Management of Special Economic Zones (SEZ), Report on the Assessment of the Implementation of the Business Environment and Investment Improvement Plan; the National Investment Report for 2023 and the Strategic Plan of the President’s Office, Planning, and Investment for the period 2024/2025 - 2025/2026.

He also called on government institutions and authorities to enhance cooperation with the private sector, as it can offer valuable insights and suggestions for necessary improvements.

Additionally, he called on the need for the development plans to provide training and services to business stakeholders, including promoting the use of new investment management tools.

With the EPZA Business Facilitation Portal, investors will be able to address their investment concerns promptly and efficiently, irrespective of their geographical location.

The EPZA Director General Charles Itembe said the newly Business Facilitation Portal is part of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directives on creating conducive business and investment environment in the country.

“This groundbreaking initiative marks yet another significant milestone in advancing Tanzania's business-friendly environment,” he said.

He said the system will streamline the entire investment process by eliminating the need for clients to travel to the office to access services.

Instead, they can now register online, obtain their licenses, and receive the necessary incentives from anywhere they are located.

He said the launch of this system will enable Tanzania to better compete in attracting substantial foreign investments into the country.

By spearheading initiatives such as the EPZA Business Facilitation Portal, the government seeks to attract both domestic and foreign investments, fuel job creation, and foster sustainable economic development.

This landmark project embodies Tanzania's vision of becoming a prime investment destination, where entrepreneurs and investors thrive, and opportunities abound.
