YOUTH who have secured employment in foreign companies that have invested in Tanzania have expressed their gratitude to the government for creating a friendly environment that attracts investors.

Speaking to Nipashe Digital at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), the youth said the presence of favorable policies that have drawn in investors has also created job opportunities for them.

They noted that if the government had not implemented such positive policies, those investors might not have come and they would not have had the chance to be employed as they are now.

Joseph Mwakalinga, Public Relations Officer at the Chinese company Weichai, said the decision made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to improve the investment enviroment has helped liberate many young people by providing them with jobs in various companies and investment projects initiated by both local and foreign entities.

“Even in this company that has hired us, they are very pleased with the improved investment environment brought by this sixth-phase government. When they first came, they had only three employees; now we are 45, and out of those, only two are foreigners the rest are Tanzanians.

"This is a great opportunity for us. Our government benefits from the presence of investors, and we as citizens benefit individually as well. If the investment climate were poor, they wouldn’t have come, and we wouldn’t have these jobs. So we’re very thankful to our government,” Mwakalinga said.

"Therefore, I urge my fellow Tanzanians to continue building our nation and supporting the great efforts being made by our government."

Amani Hamis, another employee at Weichai, said that before being hired by the company, he used to do menial jobs that paid very little and could not meet the needs of his family. However, since joining the company, his income has greatly improved his life.

“I used to struggle to support my family, but now since I started working at this company, my life has improved. I can even help my relatives. I have my own place, and I receive all necessary benefits from the company, including health insurance and NSSF contributions,” he said.
