THE ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has strongly condemned the attack on the Secretary General of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), Rev Fr Charles Kitima.

In a statement, the party expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a cruel and inhumane act against a religious leader who has dedicated his life to serving the community with love and integrity.

"CCM urges security organs to conduct a thorough and swift investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this incident," said CCM Secretary General, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, in a public statement.

"CCM extends its sympathies to Father Kitima, his family, TEC, and all Catholic faithful for the shock and pain caused by this attack," he added.

The statement further noted that the party is praying for Father Kitima’s quick recovery and return to his spiritual and social responsibilities.

Dr. Nchimbi affirmed that CCM will continue to collaborate with all religious institutions in building a nation that upholds and promotes peace, national unity, solidarity, respect, and human rights.
