IF elected in the October 29 General Election, CCM government will allocate 20,000 hectares of land in Makete District and other areas in Njombe Region for production of livestock pasture.
CCM presidential running mate Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, revealed the plan here yesterday during a rally at Mabehewani grounds, emphasizing the area's unique advantage in livestock rearing.
“Makete has the best grass for livestock pasture in the entire country,” he stated. “This initiative will boost livestock farming and improve the livelihoods of our farmers.
As part of a five-year strategic plan, Dr Nchimbi said the government will invest heavily in irrigation infrastructure to enhance agricultural productivity across Njombe. The initiative aims to support year-round farming and improve food security.
Infrastructure development is central to CCM’s vision for the region. All villages in Makete will be connected to electricity as part of the ongoing rural electrification programme while new water pipelines will be installed to improve access to clean water.
Road connectivity is set to receive a major boost, with the government committing to completing several vital routes. Dr Nchimbi said the government will also construct Makete–Mbeya Road, Sonje–Kikondo Road, Kitulo–Kihondo Road, Kitulo–Matamba–Chimala Road as well as Matamba–Ntumbi Road.
The roads are expected to improve the flow of goods and services, enhance mobility and strengthen access to schools, health facilities and markets.
In health sector, CCM plans to modernize the Makete District Hospital, equipping it with up-to-date medical technology, expanding its services and improving healthcare delivery for residents.
Dr Nchimbi concluded by reaffirming CCM’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, saying: “These are not just promises—they are actionable plans that will transform Njombe into a hub of agricultural excellence and modern infrastructure.”
