THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in Dodoma Region has called on business owners and all registered taxpayers to clear their third tax instalment before the end of this month, emphasizing that timely payment is essential to avoid penalties and to sustain the government’s development agenda.

Speaking here yesterday during the ongoing door-to-door tax education campaign taking place across the region, TRA Regional Manager Pendolake Elinisafi reminded business operators that tax compliance is a civic responsibility and a crucial part of national growth.

He noted that prompt payments enable the government to implement planned infrastructure and social projects without delays.

“I urge all taxpayers in Dodoma to settle this third-phase payment promptly so the government can implement its development agenda as intended,” he said, underscoring that early compliance also shields businesses from fines and other legal consequences.

The manager encouraged traders and entrepreneurs to view the campaign as an opportunity to share concerns or difficulties related to tax procedures.

Officers participating in the exercise are tasked with listening to challenges, clarifying tax obligations, and providing on-the-spot guidance aimed at resolving issues that sometimes discourage voluntary compliance.

Several business owners who were visited during the exercise welcomed the approach, commending TRA for directly engaging them at their workplaces rather than relying solely on office visits or formal seminars.

They pointed out that such outreach allows them to receive tailored advice and immediate answers to questions about assessment, filing procedures and payment methods. Some also called on other government agencies such as municipal licensing departments and health inspectors to adopt a similar model of community-based service delivery to improve awareness of regulations and available services.

The campaign, which began on 22 September runs until next Wednesday has multiple objectives. Besides educating current taxpayers, it seeks to identify and register new taxpayers, increase understanding on the importance of accurate recordkeeping and gather feedback on how TRA can improve its services.

According to officials, every household and business visited is given practical tips on using electronic payment systems and maintaining compliance throughout the year.

TRA highlighted that taxes form the backbone of national development, financing projects in sectors such as education, health and infrastructure. By ensuring timely payment of the third instalment, taxpayers directly contribute to improved public services and economic stability in Dodoma and the country at large.

The authority has pledged to continue similar outreach programmes beyond the current campaign to maintain close communication with the business community and strengthen a culture of voluntary tax compliance.
