THE rulling party, CCM has promised to intensify efforts to unlock the economic and social potential of Njombe Region through a series of large-scale infrastructure and service delivery projects.
Speaking during a public rally in Ludewa district in the Region, CCM’s Presidential Runningmate, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, emphasized the government's commitment to inclusive development.
He noted that under the leadership of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, significant strides have been made over the past five years to address longstanding challenges in underserved communities.
“In the last five years, Ludewa has witnessed numerous developmental projects, and in the next five, even more will be done to improve healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture,” Dr Nchimbi stated.
One of the government's top priorities is the healthcare sector, where the Ludewa District Hospital will be upgraded to offer a full range of services.
Additionally, the government plans to construct 14 new health centres and four dispensaries throughout the district to bring medical services closer to the people.
In the education sector, the government will build five new primary schools and improve existing institutions by constructing 344 new classrooms to accommodate growing student populations. Plans are also underway to build six new secondary schools, equip 12 science laboratories, and construct 14 hostels for girls to enhance retention and safety for female students, particularly those in rural areas.
On infrastructure, Dr Nchimbi announced that key roads within Ludewa will be constructed to boost mobility and economic activity. These include the 7-kilometre Nkoma–Ng’ombe–Mchuchuma road and the 9-kilometre Manyanya–Mwembahesa road, which will improve access within the district and link it more efficiently to the rest of Njombe Region.
The government is also focusing on agricultural development to support local farmers. This includes strengthening the fertiliser and seed subsidy program and investing in post-harvest infrastructure.
Over the next five years, the district will see the construction of six silos, five cashew processing plants, five coffee processing plants, and five new irrigation schemes, all aimed at increasing productivity and value addition.
Joseph Kamonga, the aspiring CCM parliamentary candidate for Ludewa, highlighted ongoing and future plans to empower the youth. He revealed that over 7bn/- has been invested in building a modern vocational training centre in Ludewa, which will provide young people with technical skills and reduce unemployment.
Kamonga also called on the government to prioritize the construction of the Ludewa–Lituhi road, a vital link to Lake Nyasa, and urged the revival of the MV Songea ferry service, as well as the development of the Songea–Kyela transport corridor, to enhance regional trade and connectivity.
As Tanzania approaches the 2025 general elections, these ambitious development projects are expected to play a key role in shaping public opinion.
