SINGIDA Regional Education Officer Dr Epidius Baganda has called on teachers to avoid involvement in politics ahead of the October General Election and instead focus on improving pupils’ performance.

He made the appeal on Monday while opening a training session for 136 education officers in the region held in Iramba District.

The training which focuses on management and data entry into the School Information System (SIS) aimed to enhance school leadership and collection of educational statistics.

Dr Baganda emphasized the importance of public servants staying clear of political matters to avoid conflicts of interest, commending efforts of the education officers in improving national examination results and acknowledged the impact of the Shule Bora project in enhancing teacher training and learning particularly for pupils with special needs.

He also urged education stakeholders to continue collaborating with the government to improve education at all levels, including adult and non-formal education.

The Shule Bora project, funded by UK-AID, aims to improve teaching and learning in schools across nine regions, including Singida, with the goal of providing quality education to all Tanzanian children.
