THE government has declared its commitment to ensuring that this year’s general election is conducted peacefully and orderly, warning that anyone attempting to incite chaos or disrupt the process will face swift action.
Minister for Home Affairs Innocent Bashungwa made the statement today, May 21, in Parliament while responding to a question from Malinyi MP Antipas Mgungusi, who asked when the government would provide police vehicles for Malinyi District to help improve services for
Bashungwa informed Members of Parliament that the government plans to provide vehicles to police detectives throughout the country starting in August this year.
“I take this opportunity to inform Members of Parliament that the government plans to distribute vehicles to police detectives across the country starting from August this year,” he said.
He emphasized the government's preparedness for the 2025 General Election, including the provision of necessary equipment to ensure a smooth and peaceful process, warning that any individual seeking to sabotage the exercise will be dealt with firmly.
Regarding the MP's question, Bashungwa noted that in September 2023, the government, through the Police Force, delivered a new vehicle with registration number PT 4851 — a Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup — to Malinyi District, bringing the number of operational police vehicles in the district to two.
Additionally, the government continues to allocate funds annually through its budget to procure various work tools, including vehicles, and distribute them to all regions and districts nationwide.
