THE government has handed over two brand-new vehicles worth 504m/- to District Commissioners (DCs) in Tarime and Musoma in a move aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and enhancing public service delivery in Mara Region.

The vehicles were officially handed over by Mara Regional Commissioner, Evans Mtambi during a brief ceremony held in Musoma. The recipients, Musoma DC Juma Chikoka and Tarime DC Maj. Edward Gowelle, were tasked with using the vehicles to better serve their communities, particularly by reaching remote areas and swiftly addressing citizens’ challenges.

“These vehicles are not just for mobility—they are tools for services delivery,” said Mtambi. “Use them to visit the people where they live, listen to their concerns, and respond effectively. With these cars, there should no longer be excuses for failing to access even the most difficult-to-reach areas.”

According to Mtambi, the vehicles mark the end of prolonged transportation challenges that had hindered the performance of district authorities. Previously, DCs in the region were forced to borrow vehicles from other government institutions, a practice that often delayed field operations and disrupted service delivery.

Beyond administrative duties, Mtambi emphasised the importance of using the vehicles to raise civic awareness and encourage mass participation in the upcoming 2025 general election. “These cars should also be used as platforms to mobilise citizens to register and vote in order to ensure they choose visionary, development-oriented leaders,” he said.

Tarime DC Major Gowelle expressed his appreciation to the government, noting that the new vehicle will significantly enhance his office’s ability to access distant wards and respond quickly to emergencies and other community needs.

“This support from the government will go a long way in improving our operational capacity,” said Gowelle. “We can now reach citizens in remote villages faster and deliver essential services more efficiently.”

Musoma DC Juma Chikoka also expressed gratitude, assuring the Regional Commissioner of his full commitment to utilise the vehicle responsibly. He pledged to ensure it contributes directly to the monitoring of development projects and resolutions of public complaints.

“These vehicles are a game changer for our districts,” said Chikoka. “They will help us execute our duties more effectively and bring government services closer to the people.”
