THE government will approve 41,500 new employment slots and carry out a special audit of public sector workers in Dodoma Region during the 2025/26 financial year.
George Simbachawene, the Public Service Management and Good Governance state minister in the President’s Office, cited these objectives when tabling the ministry’s 1.35trn/- budget estimates.
He said 1.17trn/- is earmarked for recurrent expenditure and 183.31bn/- for development projects, while the government starts to process 41,500 job permits to fill authorized staffing positions.
It will similarly verify claims of salary arrears in 425 institutions and clean up employment and payroll records in 433 institutions, he said, citing the use of an online application used by the ministry.
Reviewing and approving human resource data in 524 institutions and helping 35 institutions currently not using the ministry’s portal to board the platform is also planned, as after the 2025 general election, the government will reassess the structures of 30 ministries and public agencies, he stated.
Other priorities include expanding the online portal’s services, enhancing the credit module for financial institutions, and assessing the impact of employee incentive programmes on productivity in public institutions, he elaborated.
The government will also begin construction of residences for retired national leaders, maintain support to 19 retired top public leaders and their widows as required by the law, he said.
Uongozi Institute will launch the writing of a biography on Abeid Amani Karume, the first president of Zanzibar, as part of efforts to preserve the nation’s leadership history. A biography of Rashid Kawawa, the late former prime minister and second vice president, is also set for completion.
The Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) will implement 4,492 community-based projects in villages, streets and hamlets across the country, creating short-term jobs for 227,198 individuals, he said, affirming that conditional cash transfers will be extended to 906,669 poor households under the social protection programme.
The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) has been tasked with analysing systems in employment, education, healthcare and revenue collection to detect and close corruption loopholes, the minister declared.
The e-Government Authority (e-GA) will design new sector-based ICT systems to reduce duplication and improve efficiency in government institutions with overlapping functions, he said.
Florent Kyombo, the deputy chairperson for the Governance, Constitution and Legal Affairs, said in presenting recommendations demanded a standardized government payments system to support volunteers.
All recruitment powers need to remain centralized under the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, she added.
