Msando unveils 8.2bn/- projects as Uhuru Torch arrives in Ubungo

THE Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has injected over 4.2 trn/- into development projects in Kinondoni District, District Commissioner Saad Mtambule revealed during the official handover of the Uhuru Torch to Ubungo District.

Speaking at the event, Mtambule said the investment forms part of the government’s ongoing commitment to deliver sustainable development and improve the quality of life for Tanzanians. He emphasized that the projects span key sectors including infrastructure, health, education, energy, water, and youth empowerment.

Receiving the Uhuru Torch, Ubungo District showcased seven major projects worth over  8.2 bn/-, which are being inspected during the Torch’s tour. These projects reflect the government's broader vision of inclusive and impactful development across the country.

Among the highlighted projects is the Kibwegere–Mpiji Magohe Road, a 1.4-kilometre stretch constructed at a cost of over 2.7 bn/-, designed to ease transportation challenges in Mpiji Magohe Ward.

Other projects include:

  • Water Pump Installation by DAWASA in Kwembe Ward, costing 4.25 bn/-

  • Clean Energy Project at Dar es Salaam Girls School, valued at 23.9 m/-

  • Construction of 4 Classrooms and 8 Pit Latrines at Mbezi Inn Secondary School, costing 144 m/-

  • Youth Empowerment Fund (10 percent Allocation) in Sinza Ward, worth 50 m/-

  • Surgical Block and Maternity Ward Construction at Makurumla Health Centre, costing nearly  398 m/-

  • Upgrading of Mabibo Market, with a budget of  600 m/-

The Uhuru Torch tour serves as a platform for citizens to witness the tangible results of public investment in their communities. Authorities say the projects reflect a strong push toward economic upliftment and improved service delivery in both Kinondoni and Ubungo.
