CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for its notable achievements in investment and economic diplomacy—efforts that have attracted a surge of investors and spurred business growth across Tanzania.
Addressing a campaign rally at Kampala Grounds in Gongo la Mboto, Ilala District, Dar es Salaam, Dr Nchimbi said statistics indicate that during President Samia’s four and a half years in office, the number of large-scale investors entering the country increased from an average of 207 to 901.
He further noted that the number of new business licences issued rose from 137,508 five years ago to 222,459 this year.
“President Samia and the CCM government have accomplished a tremendous amount of work in attracting investment. We’ve witnessed a sharp rise in major investors and a significant increase in business licences for local traders—clear evidence that Tanzania has become a leading investment destination in Africa,” said Dr Nchimbi.
He also cited education as another area where the Sixth Phase Government has made substantial investments.
According to Dr Nchimbi, the government has facilitated the recruitment of 38,394 new primary school teachers and 16,000 secondary school teachers to address the national shortage.
“Our President has recognised the critical importance of education and made it a top priority to ensure that our children receive quality learning,” he stated.
Dr Nchimbi added that CCM plans to introduce entrepreneurship and vocational training programmes in urban areas to empower youth with self-employment skills.
Before outlining CCM’s five-year plan, he paused his address to observe the adhan (Islamic call to prayer) for the midday prayer.
Following this, he reaffirmed CCM’s commitment to continue implementing major development projects—including the construction of more than 20 new roads, both tarmacked and gravel, within the Ukonga constituency, and the completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) road stretching from Nyerere, through Pugu, to Gongo la Mboto.
He also announced that over 10 water projects would be implemented to improve access to clean and safe water, increasing coverage from 79 per cent to 90 per cent per 100 people.
In addition, the government plans to construct a new district hospital in Pugu, establish three new health centres, and expand the existing health facility in Chanika.
In the education sector, Dr Nchimbi stated that 250 new primary schools and 304 new secondary schools would be built to accommodate the growing number of students.
“Young people will also receive vocational and entrepreneurship training in urban centres to help them become self-reliant,” he added.
CCM’s parliamentary candidate for Ukonga, Jerry Silaa, said that the progress witnessed in the constituency reflects President Samia’s commitment to delivering meaningful change to Tanzanians.
He pointed to key achievements such as the construction of internal roads, bridges, a new market, and expanded healthcare services.
“Ukonga has received over 233bn/- in development funding, including the DMDP project which is constructing 74 kilometres of tarmac roads,” said Silaa.
He noted that each of Ukonga’s 13 wards has benefited from either a newly built health centre or major renovations—demonstrating why residents are prepared to once again vote for President Samia and other CCM candidates.
Dar es Salaam Regional Campaign Coordinator and Chairperson of the CCM Women’s Wing (UWT), Mary Chatanda, urged residents of Ilala and Ukonga to turn out in large numbers to vote for President Samia, as well as CCM’s parliamentary and local government aspirants.
“The women of Ukonga and Kivule feel honoured by the party’s decision to nominate a female presidential candidate. They have pledged to reciprocate by voting overwhelmingly for President Samia,” said Chatanda.
CCM’s Secretary for National Executive Council – Organisation Department, Haji Issa Gavu, called on citizens to continue placing their trust in CCM, citing the party’s experience, intent, and proven track record in governance.
“Leadership is not something to experiment with. Our party has the experience, vision, and achievements to show for it. On 29 October, let us elect President Samia, CCM MPs, and councillors so we can keep moving forward,” he said.
