THE government has allocated over 1bn/- for the construction of a comprehensive health facility at Makole Health Centre in Dodoma City.The centre is expected to improve healthcare services for residents of Viwandani Ward and the wider Dodoma community.
The project is funded through a combination of central government and local revenue contributions. The central government has contributed 750m/-, while the Dodoma City Council has provided 289.8m/-, which has already been paid to the contractor.
Acting medical officer in-Charge of Makole Health Centre, Dr Salma Gwassa informed the Dodoma City Council’s Finance and Administration Committee that construction is currently at the foundation stage.
“Once completed, the facility will offer both outpatient and inpatient services, including specialty clinics and improved administrative functions,” she said. Project Manager Ntezimana Chongele assured stakeholders that the construction is progressing smoothly and is on track for timely completion.
He noted that the contractor has effectively managed on-site water challenges and is maintaining strong momentum in construction activities. Chairperson of the Dodoma City Council’s Education, Health and Economy Committee, Joan Mazanda, underscored the importance of regular oversight to ensure the project is completed on time and to expected standards.
She expressed confidence that the new health centre will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the region. The facility is scheduled for completion by January next year. Once operational, it is expected to serve approximately 95,320 people annually, marking a major step forward in the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the country.
This development aligns with the broader national agenda to improve healthcare access and quality, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to advancing public health services.
