PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made several new appointments in government and public institutions, including senior officials in the health sector, planning commission, and state-owned companies.
According to a statement issued by Chief Secretary Dr Moses Kusiluka, Prof Tumaini Nagu has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), responsible for health affairs.
Dr Blandina Kilama has been appointed deputy executive secretary of the Planning Commission, overseeing trade and innovation. She replaces Dr Lorah Madete, whose appointment has been revoked. Dr Madete will be assigned other responsibilities.
The statement also announced the appointment of George Kahema Madafa as chairman of the board of Puma Energy Tanzania. He replaces Dr Majige Budeba, whose term has come to an end.
Jacob Jail Kibona has been reappointed for the second term as chairman of the board of directors of the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
Retired Major General John Julius Mbungo has also been reappointed to serve the second term as chairman of the board of directors for Tanzania Shipping Company (TASHICO).
In addition, Mussa Hamza Mandia has been reappointed to serve the second term as chairman of the board of the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC).
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed deputy permanent secretary and deputy executive secretary will take place on a date to be announced later.
