NAMIBIA’S President, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, will undertake a two-day state visit to Tanzania from May 20 to 21, 2025, at the invitation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the State House has announced.

According to Shaaban Kissu, deputy director of the Presidential Communications, the visit marks President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first official trip to Tanzania since assuming office on March 21, 2025. It is expected to further deepen the longstanding diplomatic, political, and cultural ties between the two southern African nations.

The visit comes at a time when both countries are looking to enhance regional cooperation and integration under the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and will focus particularly on expanding trade, boosting investment, and strengthening educational partnerships.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah will be officially received at State House in Dar es Salaam, where she will hold bilateral talks with President Samia. The two heads of state will also preside over high-level discussions between their respective government delegations, covering areas such as infrastructure development, energy, tourism, and climate resilience.

The two leaders are expected to sign a joint communique highlighting agreed areas of cooperation and reaffirming their commitment to regional peace and prosperity. They will later address a joint press briefing to update the public on outcomes of the talks.

In recognition of Tanzania’s pivotal role in supporting Africa’s liberation movements, President Nandi-Ndaitwah will visit the African Liberation Heritage Centre. She will also tour the University of Dar es Salaam, a hub for Pan-African academic collaboration, to explore ways to strengthen student exchange and research initiatives between Tanzanian and Namibian institutions.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s visit underscores the growing partnership between the two countries and the broader efforts to build a more united and economically empowered Africa.

Her visit will conclude on May 21, 2025.
