PARENTS and guardians have been urged to expand their role in fostering proper parenting to ensure their children receive ethical upbringing while in school.

The call was made recently in Dar es Salaam by Nastra Hashim, Head of Kidz Kollege School during the school's 10th anniversary celebration. The event aimed to bring together parents and children to promote parental care alongside academic matters.

 Hashim emphasized the importance of children spending quality time with their parents to foster love, care and social growth beyond the school environment.

 Hashim further highlighted the school’s core philosophy which is built on values such as honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility, integrity, and friendship. The principles guide everything the school does, and the anniversary celebration reflected the values through unity and joy.

 “This day is about more than just performances and activities; it’s about people. We brought together our children, parents, alumni, educators, support staff, and community leaders to collaborate in providing proper parenting,” she added.

 She stressed that good parenting is crucial at the stage of a child’s development, helping them build discipline, self-reliance and healthy growth.

 Cassandra Brendan, a parent, praised the school’s efforts in providing solid foundations for child care and social growth, emphasizing the importance of nurturing both discipline and intelligence.

 She stated that children be given ample time with their parents, stressing that parenting should not solely fall to teachers or matrons. Proper upbringing is essential to help children become productive and responsible adults.
