THE 2025 Woman Leader Award by women activists from the Lake Zone awarded to President Samia Suluhu Hassan was yesterday handed to Masanja Kadogosa, the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) managing director.
During the ceremony, President Samia called in to express her gratitude, as the award is in recognition of her significant contributions across various sectors in the four years she has been in office.
“I am deeply grateful for this award. Your support has enabled me to achieve the goals in education, health, water and electricity,” she said in the call, appreciating the women for your calmness and encouragement.
“I promise you, I will not let you down. I will serve you as long as God enables me,” the president declared, accepting work towards an awards event organized by 500 women entrepreneurs and business operators based in Mwanza, Mara, Kagera, Shinyanga, Geita, and Simiyu.
There were also delegates from the Western Zone regions of Kigoma and Tabora, bringin\g the participation to eight regions, with 16 other women recognized for their leadership in various fields across the Lake Zone also attending.
This year marks the fifth edition of the awards, which have been named after President Samia to acknowledge her contributions to development, especially among women of the Lake and Western Zones.
Khadija Liganga, the founder and organizer of the Samia Woman Leader Awards, had earlier said that the president has been a catalyst for the implementation of large-scale strategic projects that drive production, entrepreneurship and socio-economic development for women.
These projects have been a lifeline for many women who were previously on the margins of the formal economy, she said, underlining that through the president’s inclusive development vision, women have been empowered, motivated and are now at the forefront of social and economic change.
The event also saw a total of 16 women from the eight regions being honored for their contributions in leadership, business, agriculture, education, health and social welfare, with a scatter of female journalists also presented with awards.
