CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan has pledged massive investments in science, education and water infrastructure to accelerate Tanzania’s industrial growth and improve citizens’ quality of life.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Sumbawanga, Rukwa Region today October 19, Samia said her government will construct more science schools and vocational education and training colleges to train Tanzanian professionals in key technical fields.
“We are investing in science and technology to produce more doctors, engineers and innovators, especially girls, so that Tanzanians can drive their own development,” she said.She revealed plans to establish a National Water Grid that will distribute water nationwide using sources from Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika and Nyasa.
“Every Tanzanian deserves clean and safe water. This grid will ensure that no community is left behind,” Samia added.The presidential hopeful also praised Rukwa’s progress, citing ongoing airport expansion and several new education institutions as signs of steady growth.
Samia said her next term will focus on “science, skills and social progress” to ensure every citizen benefits from the country’s growth.CCM Secretary General Dr Asha-Rose Migiro hailed Rukwa as a food basket region, while Nzega parliamentary aspirant Hussein Bashe noted that food production has risen to 22.4 million tonnes this year, giving Tanzania a surplus of 5.7 million tonnes.
Bashe encouraged farmers to explore maize export markets in Malawi, where demand has surged.Former opposition leader Ezekia Wenje commended Samia’s leadership, saying her projects have united Tanzanians and uplifted communities.
