CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan has promised to end longstanding water scarcity in Dodoma Region with plans for a major water project set to draw the precious liquid from Lake Victoria.
Speaking here yesterday during the ongoing election campaigns, Samia emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader vision to accelerate regional development and enhance local capacity to implement key priorities. “This project will not only provide reliable water to Dodoma residents but will also support agriculture, industrial developmenty and urban growth,” she said.
The initiative forms part of a comprehensive development agenda for Dodoma, where the government has already injected 9.5trn/- over the past four years to implement 3,093 projects. The efforts have strengthened infrastructure, healthcare and administrative services across the region. Samia promised that, if elected, her administration would continue to prioritise Dodoma’s growth, including completing district hospitals in Kongwa and Chamwino, ensuring all residents have access to quality healthcare.
Key infrastructure projects highlighted by the CCM candidate include a 400kv power transmission line from Chalinze to Dodoma to boost electricity supply, and the completion of Msalato Airport, which is expected to handle major events, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Samia also pledged to continue efforts in land registration and formalisation to resolve land disputes, ensuring fairness and legal clarity for all citizens.
CCM Secretary General Dr Asha-Rose Migiro urged Tanzanians to elect Samia, praising her achievements in steering the country’s development agenda. “Under President Samia’s leadership, Tanzania has seen significant progress in infrastructure, healthcare and public service delivery. Dodoma is now a model for efficient governance, and her election is key to sustaining these gains,” she said.
Vice President Dr Phillip Mpango joined the campaign, stressing the importance of continuity in leadership.
"Some of the countries I have visited admire President Samia’s leadership and wish they had such a leader,” he said.
President Samia’s administration has relocated all government institutions to Dodoma, cementing the city’s status as the nation’s administrative capital. She reaffirmed her commitment to building Dodoma into a model region that combines modern infrastructure, efficient public services and strong local governance.
