TANZANIA’S Ambassador to Japan, Baraka Luvanda, has highlighted the country's major tourist attractions, including the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Mount Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Serengeti National Park and cultural and heritage sites as key highlights during the ongoing Osaka Expo 2025 Tourism Week.

Speaking about the attractions, Luvanda urged the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) to ensure that more visitors are informed about these sites and how to access them.

The Tourism Week at Osaka Expo 2025 began on April 25 and is set to run until next Tuesday in Osaka, Japan. “One of the major events at this week’s expo is Tanzania showcasing its diverse tourist attractions. Ngorongoro, Mount Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Serengeti, and other sites have captivated visitors at Tanzania's pavilion in Japan,” he said. “We commend TTB and TANTRADE (Tanzania Trade Development Authority) for their efforts in promoting our country through such exhibitions which greatly contribute to attracting more visitors to experience our hotspots.”

Ernest Mwamwaja, Director of Marketing at the Tanzania Tourist Board, stated that tourism sector continues to grow, contributing significantly to the national economy, accounting for 17-20 percent of Tanzania's GDP.

Deo Shayo, Manager of Tanzania’s Pavilion in Japan, noted that TANTRADE has been instrumental in bringing together various stakeholders at major exhibitions like Expo 2025, helping them showcase their products in international markets and attracting foreign investors.

Michael Makombe, Chief of Operations at Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, shared that the expo has proved to be highly beneficial, with an increasing number of visitors showing interest in wildlife tourism. He believes that the event will significantly boost visitor numbers in the upcoming tourism season.
