The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has taken a bold step toward nurturing innovation among young minds by launching a special Child-Friendly Innovation Zone at the ongoing 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), famously known as Sabasaba.
Speaking at the VETA pavilion, Director General Anthony Kasore said the new zone aims to expose children to practical skills and creativity from an early age, in line with the newly revised national education policy.
“This year, we wanted to give children a space to explore, imagine, and engage with simple innovations. It’s not just about entertainment it’s about planting the seeds of skills and creativity early,” Kasore noted.

He emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote technical education and innovation among all age groups, especially as Tanzania shifts toward a more skills-based learning system. The zone includes interactive exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, and child safe tools that allow children to experiment with basic technologies.
“This aligns with the national education reforms launched in February 2025, which highlight the importance of introducing vocational skills early in life,” he added.
The innovation zone has drawn praise from parents, educators, and policymakers who visited the VETA booth, many of whom called it a smart move in preparing future generations for self-reliance and problem solving.
