Moscow’s global assembly urges women to master media technics to shape narratives

Women have been urged to build interest in crisis communication and branding so as to shape narratives, withstand pressure and inspire change.

That was challenged in a session on September 20 and 21 during  the first ‘World Public Assembly’ that was held in Moscow.

The forum, dedicated to the International Day of Peace, brought together more than 4,000 participants from more than 150 countries.

Nurul Ashiqin Shamsuri, Project Fearless & Division Chief of Information Wanita UMNO from Malaysia said, strong media literacy among women leaders strengthens democracy and ensures fairer representation.

She says, “Media literacy for women leaders is survival, not optional. It’s not just about understanding media…

“… it’s about mastering crisis communication, branding and equiping women politicians with these tools ensures they can shape narratives, withstand pressure, and inspire change,” she said.

The participants discussed the need to form a positive agenda, build trust and create an information space for partnership.

Sabine Murungi, a journalist from Rwanda said journalists should be source of positivity to the community.

“I believe that every person in the world sometimes needs to be supported. After all, there are times when you don't feel well, when you lack positivity. And it is journalists who should extend a helping hand to such people,”says Murungi.

Alexander Lebedev, General Director of the Greater Asia Media Group said the media today is step by step, drop by drop to get all the good and best on the basis of history, culture, traditions, peoples and to look for integration points.

This years assembly presented more than 40 thematic platforms, seven panel discussions, including a media forum, a youth forum "Generation of Unity", a business forum on social responsibility and a congress of the World Organization of Writers.

The assembly is said to be a vivid example of the conscious unity of the peoples of the world.

Mabvuto Chipata, Chief Executive Officer of Her Voice Foundation from Zambia says that it is important to not lose focus on the causes of widespread human suffering, such as wars, climate change, poor economic management, discriminatory cultural practices and beliefs and acts of God.

Chipata says, “To be sustainable, charity organisations, some of which depend on the passion of individual founders must have succession plans, good corporate governance frameworks and risk management practices that mitigate concentration risks of funding sources to survive beyond initial sources of funds and founders.

The Assembly was founded in 2017 as the "Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia". The founders sought to create a platform for people's diplomacy and solving humanitarian problems in the face of growing international tension.
Over 8 years, the organization has significantly expanded its scale and influence, uniting representatives of different countries and cultures.
