CARAVANS B cricketers showcased an impressive all-round display to command an eight-wicket victory over Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Sports Centre (SKLPSC) A in the Group B's opening tie of the TCA DC League 1-20 Over 2025 in Dar es Salaam last weekend.
Cricketers forming Caravans B team are pictured when they battled it out in one of the tournamets which took place in Dar es Salaam recently. It was one of four ties in the showdown's Group B, which ushered in the beginning of a potentially thrilling battle for the top honour in one of the lower-tier club events in Dar es Salaam.
Having secured the opportunity to take the crease first, SKLPSC A's cricketers, led by skipper Naran Vekariya, were found wanting in batting given they could eventually post 85/10 in 18.2 overs.
Quick dismissals of team captain Naran and opener, Dinesh Rabadiya, seemed to have rattled the SKLPSC A’s batting unit, which struggled to set up meaningful stands for the rest of the batting time.
Both cricketers were dismissed whilst being six runs short of two-digit figures, prompting the rest of the top- order cricketers to attempt to improve their side's search for a better score.
Ramesh Khimani, who opened the innings with Rabadiya, garnered 10 runs and cleared the boundary twice in an 11-ball stint, and fellow players Anil Pindoriya and Sailesh Varsani also chipped in with two digits in a vain effort by the battins squad to regroup.
Anil posted 12 runs at a strike rate of 70.59 and Varsani ended up with 16 runs at a strike rate of 94.12.
There was no any visible determination by the club to hold off the Caravans B's bowling surge, given Vital Vekariya was the batting club's sole player with a two-digit score out of the rest of the batting unit.
Vipul Pindoria and Ashvin Hirani were five runs short of two-digit figures as SKLPSC A continued to drop wickets cheaply. The batting team was, to a certain extent, boosted by 11 extras conceded by Caravans B.
Caravans B's cricketers Suraj Kumar and Anand Ram played spoilsport for SKLPSC A, during their side's turn with the ball, having garnered three wickets apiece.
Suraj grabbed 3-15 in 3.2 overs, while Ram made matters worse for SKLPSC A with his 3-14 in his four-over stint.
With a modest target in their sight, Caravans B cricketers, led by Manoj Kumar, embarked on a seemingly smooth chase having notched 86 runs for the loss of two wickets in 14.1 overs.
An early dismissal of opener, Jaffari Kanyita, was hardly a threat to their chase, given they made full use of their key players to ultimately come out victorious.
They opened their quest for victory with a series of good knocks by opener, Praveen Puthanpurayil, with the performer, who lasted four overs, ultimately chipping in with 13 runs.
Salmini Yusuph, who nailed 31 runs not out, forged a solid third-wicket partnership with Gokul Das, who garnered 29 runs not out, to catapult Caravans B to the smooth victory.
The opening day, moreover, saw victories for Aga Khan SC (AKSC) B, Annadil Burhani, and Lions B.
The AKSC B commanded a five-wicket defeat of Estim A, Annadil Burhani edged Union Sports Club by two wickets, and Lions B downed Specialized K&P A by 59 runs.
