BAGAMOYO Kings have put a hold on their losing streak in the Bagamoyo Development League 2025, following the team's five-wicket victory over Bagamoyo Stars in the Coast Region recently.

Having garnered the chance to start batting, Bagamoyo Stars did not fully make good use of their time at the crease, given that the juniors scored 76/7 in their 20 overs.

The Salum Bakari Papeni-led Bagamoyo Kings sought to put a dent in the Bagamoyo Stars' search for a better total with an early dismissal of the latter's cricketers, Muhdhir Hassani Shariff and Rose Abel, who had opened the innings.

The bowling side kept on attempting to rattle the batting outfit's innings with another quick dismissal of wicket keeper-cum-batsman Alfred John, who ended one run short of two digits.

Salum Bakari Papeni became the cricketer with the showing which was worth writing home about for Bagamoyo Stars, having scored 14 runs not out in a batting outing which was somewhat improved by 44 extras given away by Bagamoyo Kings.

Bagamoyo Stars continued to drop wickets in quick succession as their dreams of amassing more runs were ultimately all but over.

Abdulkadir Mohamed Mwinyimbegu, team captain Salum Rajabu Bakari, and Salim Bakari Nguzo ended with one wicket each for Bagamoyo Kings as the trio had their club tame the batting team.

The Muhdhir Hassani Shariff-led Bagamoyo Kings, determined to get rid of the whipping boys' tag, chased the easy target for the loss of five wickets in 13.5 overs.

Salum, who opened the innings with Nguzo, played a crucial innings, which had Bagamoyo Kings, in the end, snatching the victory, posting 23 runs.

The opening member of the batting unit's innings, to some extent, masked a less convincing turn that his fellow opener, Nguzo, had in the clash after exiting the crease for duck.

Edson Edward Nyang'ari moreover posted two-digit figures for the eventual winners, securing 18 runs.

The innings were buoyed by 23 extra runs conceded by Bagamoyo Stars.

Ester Safari Makuya, who scored nine runs not out, and Husseni Abedi Ismail ended the innings triumphantly for Bagamoyo Kings, even though Ismail's four-knock stint did not produce runs.

An attempt by Bagamoyo Stars' Shariff, who took 2-13, and Rose, who notched 2-14, to foil the Bagamoyo Kings' chase could not come to fruition.

It ended up as the first victory for Bagamoyo Kings, who are, however, continuing to languish at the bottom of the tournament's table.

Bagamoyo Kings opened their account on the wrong foot, conceding a 10-wicket loss to the tournament leaders, Bagamoyo Boys.

Bagamoyo Boys are leading the rest of the competitors in the three-team Bagamoyo Development League 2025 with a 1.6666 Net Run Rate, winning three encounters and losing one tie.

Bagamoyo Stars comes second in the showdown's table after posting a -0.3651 Net Run Rate after coming out victorious in one clash, losing two encounters, and having one fixture declared as a tie.

The Salum Rajabu Bakari-led Bagamoyo Kings are sitting at the bottom of the showdown's table, even though they are level with Bagamoyo Stars on victories and defeats, as the former's Net Run Rate of -1.3628 is slightly inferior.
