TANZANIA Premier League side Coastal Union have officially parted ways with head coach Ali Mohammed Ameir, just three matches into the 2025/26 campaign.

The decision comes in the wake of a disappointing start to the season that has left the club seeking a fresh direction. Ameir (pictured), who took charge of the Tanga-based outfit at the start of the season, oversaw fixtures against Tanzania Prisons, JKT Tanzania, and Dodoma Jiji. 

 His tenure began promisingly with a 1-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons. However, back-to-back defeats - 2-1 against JKT Tanzania and 2-0 at the hands of Dodoma Jiji - quickly shifted momentum and piled pressure on the technical bench.

 In a statement released on Wednesday, Coastal Union confirmed that the two parties had agreed to terminate the contract on mutual terms. “The Management of Coastal Union Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with head coach Ali Mohammed Ameir to terminate his contract. The club thanks Coach Ameir for his dedicated service during his time with the team,” read the statement.

 The announcement further noted that the club will soon communicate updates regarding the new technical bench structure and leadership.

Reports indicate that Coastal Union are in advanced negotiations with Mohamed Muya, who coached Fountain Gate last season, to replace Ameir. 

Sources close to the club suggest that discussions have reached the final stages, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

The abrupt end to Ameir’s tenure underscores the mounting pressure on Mainland Premier League coaches, where early results often prove decisive in determining job security. 

For Coastal Union, a club with a strong support base in Tanga, the priority will be to stabilize performances and climb the league standings before the campaign slips further out of control.
